M.E.T.I.S. Consultancy in cooperation with FinArch ME organizes a conference about risk management and the Basel II Capital Accord requirements for Lebanon.
We invite both IT and risk managers to benefit from the industry experts to get acquainted with the Risk Management and Basel II environment and to learn from the findings, expertise and experience with respect to the implementation of adequate Risk management, Basel II calculation engines and reporting solutions.
Topics
The recent global financial crisis highlighted the critical importance of a robust risk management system. Major failures of regulation and supervision, reckless and irresponsible risk taking by banks and financial institutions, created dangerous financial fragilities that contributed significantly to the global financial crisis of 2008.
In July 2009, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) issued the Enhancements to the Basel II framework; banks are expected to comply with the revised requirements by 31 December 2010. These enhancements are intended to strengthen the framework and respond to lessons learned from the financial crisis.
The ½ day conference shall provide an update on the latest developments regarding the Risk management regulations, the Basel II Capital Accord and an analysis on how this framework will impact the country, and how to move to more advanced techniques to be able to measure the bank’s performance on a risk adjusted basis; In addition, the Head of Risk Assessment Dept, Bank of Lebanon Mr. Rabih Nehme will highlight some Basel Committee’s initiatives to respond to the “present” Financial “crisis” and its debates to the regulation, supervision and risk management of the banking sector, concentrating on the Capital Adequacy Framework. |
